Choir Banner draft 3 copy

A unique, and much-appreciated feature of our Club is the Kiama Probus Men’s Choir which was formed in 1987 due to the enthusiasm of the then President, Cec Smilie. For thirteen years the choir’s Musical Director was Barbara O’Brien, and the Accompanist Lyn Langstaff. In appreciation of their long-term commitment to the choir, these two ladies were made Honorary Members of our Club in December 2003. Regrettably these
stalwarts have since “retired” from their choir involvement. Taking their place in the respective positions were two new ladies. Wendy Leatheam and Pam Harris, who carried on the great work until Pam retired from her role as accompanist in 2008.

Today the choir is still under the direction of Wendy who, for her exceptional devotion to the choir, was made an Honorary Member in July, 2010. The choir today enjoys the luxury of having two very capable male accompanists in the persons of Steve Leatheam and Michael Maude. When necessary, Michael’s wife, Jenny has proven herself an extremely capable stand-in Musical Director The choir rehearses on Mondays at 11.00 am at the CWA Rooms, Kiama. Fellowship within the choir is truly wonderful. If you like to sing, and are interested in joining, you should speak to the Choir Chairman, Phil Lewis.
